History Of Kedarnath

The history of Kedarnath is rich and ancient. It is believed that the Kedarnath Temple, dedicated to Lord Shiva, was built over a thousand years ago by Adi Shankaracharya, a revered Hindu philosopher and saint. This temple has stood the test of time, surviving harsh weather and natural calamities. Over the centuries, it has been a significant pilgrimage site for devotees from across India and beyond. Kedarnath is also associated with many legends from Hindu mythology, including the Mahabharata, which tells of the Pandavas visiting the area in search of Lord Shiva’s blessings. The temple’s location amidst the mighty Himalayas adds to its spiritual aura and historical significance. The enduring legacy of Kedarnath continues to draw pilgrims and history enthusiasts, making it a living testament to the deep-rooted faith and cultural heritage of the region.

Best time to visit Kedarnath

The best time to visit Kedarnath is during the months of May to June and September to October. During this time, the weather is relatively mild, and the temple is open for pilgrims. The snow has melted, making the trekking routes accessible. The surroundings are lush and green, creating a beautiful backdrop for the temple. It’s a time when many devotees and travelers visit to seek blessings and enjoy the serene atmosphere. However, it’s important to avoid visiting during the monsoon season (July and August) due to heavy rainfall and the risk of landslides.
