Day 1- HARIDWAR TO BARKOT or DIRECT FROM DEHRADUN TO BARKOT
Distance from haridwar to barkot- 222 km.
Direct from dehradun to barkot – 126 km.
Barkot is town and a nagar palika in uttarkashi district in the state uttarakhand. Barkot are the last big town near yamunotri dham. Things to do in barkot is trekking, shopping and sports activities. Barkot is situated 1220 m above sea level. Special tour can be done to barkot through different village of gharwal and jonsar, it can give you more information about rituals and their place tell us about history of pandawas .
Unaffected by the vagaries of the modern civilization ,it stand in its ancient beauty to lead on each and every visitor who comes to visit it .While going to yamunotri,you can stopover at Barkot and take pleasure of the beautiful place . Day 2 – YAMUNOTRI
In chardham yatra first dham is yamunotri.The chief attraction of the place is the temple devoted to the goddess Yamuna , the daughter of “GOD SURYA”. The temple is constracted by the Maharaja Pratap Shah of tehri garhwal. The temple is situated in the western side of river Yamuna.

SURYA KUND- In surya kund naturally boiled hot water is present , as it emerges from the crevices in the mountain.
DIVYA SHILA- It is reddish brown rock near the surya kund which need to be worshipped before the main chief.
Day 3 – GANGOTRI
Gangotri- second of chardham Gangotri,the origin of the River Ganga and seat of the goddess ganga, is one of the four sites in the Chardham pilgrimage circuit. The river is called Bhagirathi at the source and acquires the name ganga from devprayag onwards where it meets the alaknanda. The origin of the holy river is at Gaumukh, set in the gangotri glacier, and is a 19 km trek from Gangotri. The temple was built by by the Nepalese General Amar singh thapa in the early 18th century
Places to visit near gangotri temple-
BAGIRATHI SHILA – bagirathi shila is believed to be the holy rock where King Bagirath prayed to Lord Shiva
PANDAVA GUFA – located 1.5 km away from Gangotri, it is the place where the pandavas are believed to have mediated and rested in route kailash. Pilgrims will have to trek up to the Pandavas gufa.
Day 4 – GANGOTRI / UTTARKASHI
Uttarkashi is a small and a beautiful town, Uttarkashi is situated between two rivers ; Varun and ashi, whose water flow and get emerge into Bhagirathi from either side of the town.
Uttarkashi is also known as a trekkimg hub as it is gateway to the number of attractive and beautiful to visit- DODITAL, DAYARA BUGYAL, KEDARKANTH, NACHIKETA TAL, HARSIL, CHAURANGI KHAL, SANKRI.
The major temple is the viswanath temple, dedicated to Lord Shiva. Two other very important temples (Annapurna temple and the bhairav Temple) are located in the chowk area.
Day 5 – UTTARKASHI/SITAPUR.
Sitapur is famous for its historical and religious heritage. Sitayapur id located just 7kms from gaurikund and 26 kms away from Guptkashi on road towards kedarnath . Sitapur is just short of 2kms from Son Prayag , lying at the confluence of river Basuki and Mandakini.
The holy site of Son Pragyag is of immense religious significance. It is said that a mere touch of the holy water of Son Pragyag helps one to attain the “Baikunth Dham’. Triyuginariyan , which is supposed to be the marriage place of lord shiva and parvati , it is at the distance of 14 kms by bus and 5 kms on foot from here . Before proceeding for kerdarnath on foot ,people bath in the hot water pond here and visit the gauri devi temple . This is the place where goddess Parvati meditate to attain lord shiva .
Day 6 – SITAPUR / GAURIKUND / KEDARNATH
Kedarnath temple is the 3rd dham of chardham .kedarnath is the most magnificent of the char dhams is located in Lord Shiv’s o wn country ,
The sheer majesty of the shrine’s natural setting –the towering mountain mantled in snow , the tumbling streams and rivers , and green meadows amd forests – and the arduous trek that gets you to it, serve to futher cement the deep –N almost unchanged for centuries and has a spiritual energy all its own .
For the devotee of Lord Shiv , this is the last frontier , the ultimate path to salvation.
Day 7 – KEDARNATH / RUDRAPRAYAG
Today garhwal is known for kedar-khand in the past. In puranas kedar-khand was sais to be abode of God. It seems from the facts Vedas puranas, Ramayana & Mahabharat that these Hindu scripyures are scripted in kedra-khand . In kedra-khnd purans this land is regades as the land of lord Shiva . Named after Lord Shiva (Rudra ) Rudrapraygh is situated at he confluence of Alaknanda and Mandakini rivers at a distance of 34 kms from Srinagar (Grahwal ) . The meeting of mandakini and Alakananda rivers has a unique beauty of its own its seems two sisters were mysterious of music , Narad muni worshipped Lord Shiva who appeared in his rudra avatar to bless Narad . The Shiva and jagdamba temples are of great religious importance .
Day 8 – RUDRAPRAYAG / BADRINATH
The journey to Badrinath can sometimes be unforgiving ,but the faces of the country . Journey from Rishikesh to badrinath ,to borrow from one sir Edmund Hillay’s expendition is in many ways , a journey from the ocean to the sky as much mental as physical . And another route to heaven –and a sprituial liberation/.
